The EFCC report alleging that some of its senior officials are linked with arms procurement fraud was false.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Wilson Uwujaren , Head, Media and Publicity of the Commission and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday. ``The attention of the EFCC has been drawn to a report entitled DSS Nabs Member of Presidential C’ttee on Arms Procurement over alleged fraud regarding the arrest of retired Air Commodore Umar Muhammed for alleged fraud. ``The report quoting anonymous sources alleged that Muhammed who is a member of the Arms Procurement Committee is fronting for some members of the committee, including high ranking officials in the EFCC and ONSA.   ``The report falls short of naming the so-called officials that Muhammed is allegedly fronting for’’, it stated. It said ``it is common knowledge that Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu , is the only member of the Arms Procurement Committee from the commission. ``The EFCC views with grave concern this spirited attempt to create doubts in the minds of less discerning Nigerians an...

Image
In a report by The Street Journal, Ms Buhari reportedly broke her silence on her alleged involvement in the Halliburton bribery scandal. Ms Buhari reportedly stressed that though she shares the same name with the President’s wife, Mrs Aisha Buhari, she's neither the person referred to in the bribery scandal by the Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose nor by the ex-EFCC boss, Ibrahim Lamorde. Ms Buhari was further reported to have maintained that involving her name in the scandal for political reasons were not only malicious but wicked. “This is like pouring water on a sleeping person. I have never done anything with Halliburton, I don’t know the colour of the company. I am not in the line of business with Halliburton, so linking me with the bribery is wicked ”, Ms Buhari allegedly told the medium. Continuing, she said, “They are desperate to cover their dirty track and link my name with the scandal that they have to first of all steal my passport. My passport was stolen ea...

The Minister of Niger Delta, ‎Pastor Uguru Usani, has raised alarm on the alleged attempt by a political group in Cross Rivers

Image
Usani, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an exclusive interview in Abuja on Tuesday, said it was an attempt by his political opponents to discredit him. The minister, who is also the leader of APC in the state told NAN that since his appointment as the Federal Minister he has been under furious attacks through fictitious newspapers report and petitions. According to him, information reaching him indicates that already, there are people coming into town to recruit miscreants and other undesirable elements to stage a protest against him. The minister, however, said that he would not be distracted by the sinister plans of his political opponents as he has sworn allegiance to the Federal Government of Nigeria to serve dutifully. Senator Emmanuel Bawcha has announced that 49 Senators in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have withdrawn their support for President Buhari.

Image
Bawcha said this on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, on the floor of the Senate chambers. This is as a result of the fresh forgery charges which the Federal Government filed against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. You will recall that the 49 PDP Senators declared their support for Buhari in August 2015. Reports also say the PDP Senators frowned at the freezing of the Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose's account by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, June 20, 2016. Bawcha  said “We condemn the plot to remove the senate president and his deputy through illegal means. “We will no longer cooperate with the APC government until they cease their belligerent acts.” Adding that “The freezing of account of Ekiti state governor is a clear political witch-hunt. “We wish the government to act with caution and desist from acts of lawlessness.” Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu were accused of forging the Senate standing rules to ...

The Ogun Government Denied diverting the bailout fund from the Federal Government

Image
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa , made the clarification at separate meetings with Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) and the leadership of the National Union of Local Government Employers (NULGE) in Abeokuta. He insisted that the money was solely committed to the payment of arrears of salaries and co-operative deductions of all categories of the state’s workforce. Adeoluwa expressed surprise at the insinuations in some quarters that part of the fund, especially those due to local government councils, had been diverted. He blamed the development on communication gap between government and the local government administrators. Adeoluwa said that the anti-graft agencies, particularly the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), which monitored the disbursement across the country, gave the state a clean bill of health after the exercise. ``What was due to local government councils from the total package we got was N9.1 billion wit...
